So this is a tale that a girl becomes a woman – Stephen King’s supernatural part aside – clearly from the first period scene and the climax of bloody prom. It reminded me Stoker (2013) or Thelma (2017) in that sense, of course these were made much later so it must be more the other way around.
I really liked the sexual vibe of De Palma, which I also remember in Dressed To Kill (1980). I am in the middle of the series Carrie by Mike Flanagan right now. While I quite enjoy the 21st centry twist, that version is much more cute teenagers story to me than the original so far (if you’ve watched The Midnight Club then you see what I mean. By the way I cannot wait to see Exorcist by him).
Sissi Spacek and Piper Laurie are irreplaceable.
