*Spoiler alert*

I was already aware of that the reactions in Korea – it was released in July there – were extremely divided. There were even cyber backlashes torwards a critic who reviewed this film quite highly. After watching it I kinda understand both sides. To me it was baffling.

The spine of Na Hong-Jin’s works, human reactions to terrifying unknowns – while he changes the genres a lot, from thriller, horror, and creature film – has been addressed often enough so I will just skip that part.

What put me down more than computer graphics, which was openly hated, were prosthetics. They didn’t look real. The production was apparently the most expensive by far in Korea, I wonder a bit how much they spent on special effects.

Still it was fun to watch, although I am not sure a sequel is necessary (or can be made).
